Breitenworbis

Breitenworbis is a municipality in the Thuringian district of calibration field. Breitenworbis is the seat of the administrative community Eichsfeld- rocker Rough.

Geography

Through the community of Rhin flows. The landscape is dominated by the wooded hills of the Ohmgebirges, Harburg and the Huben mountain. Not far from the town there is the deserted village Hubenworbis.

History

The Wallburg ( clay ) on the southeastern part of the Ohmgebirges was, judging by the finds dated from the Iron Age. It was emphasized decorated ceramics. Bank and ditch are still well preserved. The plant was used to monitor the surrounding area and the transport connection over the pass cock of the rock.

1238 Breitenworbis was first mentioned in documents as Breytenworbetze. It belonged to the secularization in 1802 to Electoral Mainz. 1802 to 1807 the place was Prussian and then came to the Kingdom of Westphalia. From 1815 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony. A major fire destroyed about 100 houses in 1859 and ancillary buildings. 1905/1906 it came to the construction of the potash mining shafts that were shut down in 1931 again.

1945 to 1949, the village belonged to the Soviet occupation zone and since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 Breitenworbis was affected by the closure of the nearby German border. Since 1990, the city is part of the re-established state of Thuringia. 1991 Breitenworbis office of the Management Community Eichsfeld- rocker Rough. 2001, the section of highway Leinefelde- Breitenworbis the A 38 was passed.

On September 1, 2009, until then independent municipality Bernterode was incorporated ( in Worbis ) to Breitenworbis.
