Fretterode

Fretterode is a municipality in the Thuringian district of calibration field. It belongs to the administrative community Hanstein - Rusteberg.

Location

Fretterrode is approximately 10 kilometers south-west of Heiligenstadt in the western part of the calibration field. The local situation is in a trough-like depression between the hills of the Upper Eichsfeld with the Röhrsberg ( 468.1 m ) and the Kahlenberg ( 408.1 m ) in the north and the ridge height of the mountain with the bolt mountain ( 391.2 m ) in the south. The village is connected transport network is on the main road to the 1002 Federal Highway 80 south of Hohengandern. History

Frettenrode was first mentioned in 1089 in a deed as Fritheuuarderoth. In the small town there is a Catholic and Protestant Churches, both of which are dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul. The Peter and Paul's Church in the southeast of the town is surrounded by walls and lies on a terrace. In the west and south of the church is located in front of the wall a sink. Nature

Southwest of the town center lies the nature reserve Hasenwinkel, a small ridge ( 359.8 m ) north of the height of the mountain. As part of the Eichenberg -Gotha - Saalfeld fault zone occur here zwischem the limestone of the Upper Eichsfeld and the red sandstone of the height of the mountain rocks of the Upper Permian ( dolomite) as small rocks to light ( Broad stone and stone sharpener ).
