Heuthen

Heuthen is a municipality in the administrative community Leinetal in the Thuringian district of calibration field.

History

The first documented mention goes back to a deed of gift of the von Kirchberg from the year 1146. Two older entries to 724 at the time of Boniface (as wholes ) and around 950 are not to impose a certificate. Heuthen is one of the oldest villages of the region. The place belonged to Electoral Mainz until the secularisation, 1815-1945 the town was part of the Prussian Province of Saxony.

1945 to 1949 the town was part of the Soviet zone of occupation and since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 the place was close to the German border.

Religion

In Heuthen the filial church of St. Nicholas is located (built 1745-1749 ), one of the most beautiful baroque churches in the village Eichsfeld, the parish of St. Cosmas and Damian in Geisleden. Since September 8, 2013, there is also an art guide to the Church. From 1 Advent each year opens a crib exhibition with over 400 illustrations! Also worth seeing is the belonging to Geisleden Baroque subsidiary church of St. Martin (built 1756-1758 ) in Flin.

Culture and sights

Extended to the district border to the neighboring village Kefferhausen in the Middle Ages the deserted village Werdingshausen of whose existence testifies to the hermitage located there today. The path to the chapel was upgraded in 1910 to an alley with about 100 rare Swedish Whitebeam trees. This is now considered a natural monument.
