Burgwalde

Burgwalde is a municipality in the Thuringian district of calibration field and belongs to the administrative community Hanstein - Rusteberg.

Geography

Burgwalde is located about 6 km north-west from the county town of Heiligenstadt. The local situation is in the red sandstone hills of the middle Eichsfeld. Through the town flows the Schwobach, which flows south to Schönau in the lanyard. Just north runs the federal highway 38 to a junction with Arenshausen.

History

Burgwalde was first mentioned in 1318 as bortwold documented. The name is a Low German term for a frontier forest.
