Buhla

Buhla is a municipality in the district of calibration field in Thuringia in Germany. Buhla is one of the few villages in the district of calibration field that is not part of the historical calibration field. The municipality belongs to the administrative community Eichsfeld- rocker Rough.

Geography

The municipality consists of two districts - Buhla and Ascherode. It lies at the foot of the mountains and the hare bleach Röder Castle, one of the most important prehistoric castles in Thuringia about nine kilometers east of Worbis. South of Buhla runs the federal highway 38 to a junction with Breitenworbis.

Waters

By Buhla the Krajaer stream flows whose source area is located west of the town in the bleaching Röder mountains. It flows between Kleinbodungen and Lipprechterode in the Bode.

History

Buhla was first mentioned in 1246 for the first time as " Bola " (place, which is surrounded by forest ), later forms of the name were " Bula " ( 1416 ) and since 1593 " Buhla ". The now belonging to Buhla Ascherode district was the seat of a fortified medieval noble court, which was first mentioned in documents already on 12 August 1146. The castle site was located on the southeast corner of the place, there remains of the ramparts and the fortified manor house can still be seen. The castle site was used to control and secure the formerly important transport path from Großbodungen about buntings to Mühlhausen.

Buhla belonged from 1816 to Erfurt Regierungsbezirk of the Prussian province of Saxony, and since 1990 the federal state of Thuringia.
