Rustenfelde

Rustenfelde is a municipality in the administrative community Hanstein in Thuringia - Rusteberg Eichsfeld.

Geography

Rustenfelde is located on the east of the pipe Rustebach mountain. North of Rustenfelde leads the A38 motorway from Leipzig to Göttingen. The connection point Arenshausen is easily accessible.

History

The place was at the foot of 1123 already mentioned in a document of Mainz castle ruins Rusteberg and belonged until the secularization in 1802 to Electoral Mainz. 1743 was founded by the brothers William and Lawrence Osburg a hospital for the poor in Rustenfelde. 1802 to 1807 the place became Prussian and then came to the Kingdom of Westphalia. From 1815 to 1945 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony.

By American strafing with bombs and shelling in April 1945 caused significant damage to homes and outbuildings.

In early July 1945, the place to the Soviet occupation zone and was since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 Rustenfelde was affected by the closure of the nearby German border. Since 1990, the city is part of the re-established state of Thuringia.

Coat of arms

Blazon: "In gold, a green mountain to the head of the shield, centered on a green Wicked Cross: The mountain is covered with golden crossed keys and sword. Among them in the sign a silver wave beams. "The green mountain, which fills a large part of the coat of arms, points to the Rusteberg, while the cross on the symbolic mountain centrally placed refers to the only preserved as ruins. The two patron saint of the village church, Peter and Paul, found by the key and the sword of their correspondence, while the wave beam pointing in the sign on the Rustebach.
