Wiesenfeld (Eichsfeld)

Wiesenfeld is a municipality in the Thuringian district of calibration field in the administrative community Ershausen / Geismar. It is close to the Hessian border between the municipalities of armor, Volkerode and Sickerode. The "Meadow Brook" (actually "Bison Bach" ) joins in Wiesenfeld with the Hesselbach.

History

The town was first mentioned as " Wiesentfellt " in the 9th century. Thus Wiesenfeld is one of the oldest towns in the Eichsfeld. The earliest documented church took place in 1560. The Baroque high altar dates from the year 1703. Wiesenfeld belonged until the secularization in 1802 to Electoral Mainz. 1802 to 1807 the place became Prussian and then came to the Kingdom of Westphalia. From 1815 to 1945 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony. In 1945, the local manor " Hessel " expropriated and divided in the course of the land reform. By 1949, the place of the Soviet occupation zone was allocated and since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 Wiesenfeld has been affected by the closure of the nearby German border. Since 1990, the city is part of the re-established state of Thuringia. Three farms took over as so-called re- judge the production of agricultural products by the local LPG, as well as good " Hessel ".
