Pfaffschwende

Pfaffschwende is a municipality in the administrative community Ershausen / Geismar in the Thuringian district of calibration field.

Geographical location

Pfaffschwende is located near the border of Hesse and Thuringia, on the eastern slope of the ridge Gobert. Neighboring towns are Volkerode the northwest, Wiesenfeld in the north-northeast, Sickerode the east and Kella in the southwest.

History

Pfaffschwende was first mentioned in 1399 under the name Pfaff Inge contact in connection with the reconstruction of the nearby castle Greifenstein. During the Peasants' War in the years 1524/25, the town was completely destroyed in 1540 but rebuilt on the same spot again. The place belonged to Electoral Mainz until the secularisation, 1802-1945 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony.

An important acquisition for the Pfaff Schwendermarkt were the Kattunweberei since about 1840 products. In 1922 to 1924, the electrification of the village took place. After the Second World War, some families came as a result of the resettlement of people from the eastern areas of Germany after Pfaffschwende. By 1949, the town belonged to the Soviet occupation zone and was from 1949 part of East Germany. By an arrangement of Ministers of the GDR was on the inner German border in 1952 a 5 - km exclusion zone in which there was a place created. This was the place of citizens who lived in the interior of the GDR, no longer be visited without permission. In order to stay in the place had to be pressed with the note on the identity card of the person a stamp. With the turn of 1989/1990 the place came to Thuringia.
