Reinholterode

Reinholterode is a municipality in the administrative community Leinetal in the Thuringian district of calibration field.

Geographical location

The place is located six kilometers northeast of Heiligenstadt near the federal highway 38 in the sandstone hills of the Middle Eichsfeld, which is used primarily for agricultural purposes. Neighboring towns are Steinbach in the east, Westhausen in the south, the west and New Günterode village in the north.

The highest mountain in the district is the Rotenberg ( 407.1 m) in the north- east towards Berlingerode. In the local situation of the wild Winkelbach, a tributary of Steinbach, which opens into Bodenrode in the line originates.

History

The place is probably due to the clearing of Reinhold back, the documentary was first mentioned in 1238. Reinholterode ( until 1935 officially " Rheinholterode " ) belonged to Electoral Mainz until secularisation, 1802-1945 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony. On April 9, 1945 Reinholterode was occupied by artillery shelling by U.S. Army. At the cemetery, the graves of six on that day fallen German soldiers. In early July 1945, the place to the Soviet occupation zone and was since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 Reinholterode was affected by the closure of the nearby German border. Since 1990, the city belongs to the state, then the Free State of Thuringia.

Reinholterode is a branch of Steinbach a Catholic church village. The church " St. Peter in chains " was built between 1755 und 1760/61.

Transport links

About the road L 2018 and the county road K 101 the place is connected to the surrounding communities. Buses of the transport company Eichsfeld Reinholterode connect with the four kilometers away Westhausen and nine kilometers away Holy City. Heiligenstadt is also the nearest regional train station (line Halle ( Saale) -Kassel ), while in Bodenrode only regional trains stop ( towards Nordhausen and Kassel).

On the southern edge of the municipality is the lead federal highway 38 and about three kilometers south of the parallel former federal highway 80 over.
