Denmark at the 2012 Summer Olympics
Denmark took part in London at the 2012 Olympic Games. There was a total of 26 competing in the Olympic Summer Games. From Danmarks Idræts - Forbund (DIF ) 113 athletes were nominated in 17 sports.
For standard-bearer at the opening ceremony of the canoeist Kim Wraae Knudsen was determined, who won a silver medal in the double kayak over 1000 m at the 2008 Games in Beijing. At the closing ceremony held Allan Nørregaard, bronze medalist in the 49er sailing, the Danish flag. For contingent included the swimmer Pál Joensen from the Faroe Islands. He started for the first time in Denmark, since there is no independent National Olympic Committee of the Faroe Islands.
With a yield of two gold, four silver and three bronze medals in the country placed on 29th place in the medals table. In the Olympic history of Denmark nine medals mean the most successful games since 1948, so the expectations of the DIF and the elite sports organization Team Danmark, who hoped in advance to eight medals, were almost surpassed.
