Kevin Sullivan (politician)

Kevin B. Sullivan ( born 1949 in West Hartford, Connecticut) is an American politician. Between 2004 and 2007 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Connecticut.

Career

Kevin Sullivan attended the public schools of his home. In 1971, he graduated from Trinity College in Hartford. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Connecticut and his admission to the bar he began to work in this profession. He led an active throughout Connecticut lawyer organization. He also served, among other things as a campaign consultant. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. He was a member of the council and mayor of West Hartford. Between 1986 and 2004 he was a member of the Senate of Connecticut, where he was Chairman of the Education Committee. Since 1997, he served as President Pro Tempore acting president of that body. The official president was the Deputy Governor Jodi Rell.

Following the resignation of Governor John G. Rowland because of a corruption scandal Rell was in accordance with the constitution his successor in the office of Governor. The vacant position of Deputy Governor was also constitutionally, to the incumbent Senate President Kevin Sullivan. This post he held zwischen 2004 and 2007. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate official. In 2006 he gave up another candidate for this office.

After the end of his term as Lieutenant Governor Sullivan was president of the Children's Museum of Connecticut. Since 2011 he has worked for the Ministry of Finance of his state as Commissioner of the Department of Revenue Services. There he is working to improve the tax law to the benefit of taxpayers.
