Mary Fallin

Mary Copeland Fallin ( born December 9, 1954 in Warrensburg, Missouri) is an American politician ( Republican). From 2007 to 2011 she represented the fifth electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives; Since 10 January 2011 she is Governor of Oklahoma.

Career

Fallin's father, Joseph Copeland was mayor of Tecumseh, the village in Pottawatomie County. Mary attended from 1973 to 1975, the Oklahoma Baptist University, graduated from Oklahoma State University and completed her studies in 1981 at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. She worked as an area manager of a national chain, before she went into politics.

Between 1990 and 1994, was Mary Fallin MPs in the House of Representatives from Oklahoma, 1995-2007 Deputy Governor of that State and the first woman and first Republican who was holding office in Oklahoma. In this role, she was also President of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 2006, Fallin was in the fifth district of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There, she peeled off on 3 January 2007 Ernest Istook. Fallin was to Alice Mary Robertson, who was in 1920 elected to the House of Representatives, only the second woman from Oklahoma in this body. After a re-election in 2008, it remained until January 3, 2011 in Congress. There she was a member of the Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the Committee on smaller shops ( Committee on Small Business ). On November 2, 2010 Fallin was elected governor of Oklahoma. They won against the Democratic candidate Jari Askins, in the first election in Oklahoma, there was a choice in the top two female candidates. Mary Fallin is divorced from her husband Joe and lives in Oklahoma City.
