Olderup

Olderup is a municipality in the district of North Friesland Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Olderup is located about 8 km north of Husum on the main road 200 from Husum to Flensburg.

History

Megalithic monuments in the municipality occupy a Bronze Age settlement of the Geest ridge, lies on the Olderup. The original settlement was, however, north of the present village in the Arlauniederung. The village was mentioned for the first time the end of the 14th century.

The stone church of Olderup was built in the 12th century and rebuilt after a fire in 1938 again. It is one of the oldest churches in the region and also the bell stack, a squat wooden bell tower that stands away from the church and was built in the 16th century original. The bell is still rung by hand.

1712 was the Kösterhuus, which is now privately owned, built as a schoolhouse.

After the annexation of Schleswig-Holstein by Prussia a country parish church was formed from the territory of the parish Hattstedt. It included the two village communities Arlewatt and Olderup. 1934, the parish rural communities were dissolved and out of the village communities Olderups the two rural communities of the same name were formed.

Municipal council

Since the local elections of 2008, the voters Community WGO had all nine seats in the municipal council. In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the voter turnout was 53.6 percent. There was no change.

Mayor

Since 2008, Thomas Carstensen (WHO ) mayor. For the election period 2013-2018 he was confirmed in office.
