Olympic sports

In the Olympic sports competitions are held at the Olympic Games. Number and type are set by the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) for the respective games. The subdivisions and the competitions of a sport are often changed. For each Olympic sport by the IOC a recognized international sports federation is responsible, it represented some organizations several sports.

Currently at the Summer Games 41 sports in 28 associations, 15 sports at the Winter Games in 7 associations are allowed. (August 2012)
