Paul B. Henry

Paul Brentwood Henry ( born July 9, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, † July 31, 1993 in Grand Rapids, Michigan ) was an American politician. Between 1985 and 1993 he represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Paul Henry attended Pasadena High School in California and then to 1963 Wheaton College in Illinois until 1959. Subsequently, he studied until 1970 at the Duke University in Durham (North Carolina). In the meantime, he worked for the Peace Corps in Liberia and Ethiopia in 1963 to 1965. Later he taught the subject political science at Calvin College in Grand Rapids. Politically, Henry member of the Republican Party. Between 1975 and 1978 he was a member of the Board of Education of the State of Michigan. After that, he was from 1979 to 1982 deputy in the House of Representatives from Michigan and from 1983 to 1984 member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1984 he was in the fifth electoral district of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Harold S. Sawyer on January 3, 1985. After four elections he could remain until his death in Congress. Since January 3, 1993, he represented there as a successor to Howard Wolpe the third district of his state. During his time in the U.S. House of Representatives of the 27th Amendment, there was adopted in 1992.

Just before the elections of 1992 he once again decided for themselves, a brain tumor was found in Henry. He underwent an appropriate treatment and was able to take the oath for a new legislative session in Congress on January 3, 1993. After that, his health deteriorated. On July 31, 1993 Paul Henry in Grand Rapids succumbed to his illness.
