Francis H. Dodds

Francis Henry Dodds (* June 9, 1858 in Waddington, St. Lawrence County, New York, † December 23, 1940 in Mount Pleasant, Michigan ) was an American politician. Between 1909 and 1913 he represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Francis Dodds attended the public schools of his home. In 1866 he moved with his parents in the Isabella County in Michigan. In his new home state, he then attended the Olivet College. After leaving school, Dodds worked for some time as a teacher in Farwell and in Mount Pleasant. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and its made ​​in 1880 admitted to the bar he began in Mount Pleasant to work in his new profession. In the years 1892-1894 he was the legal representative of the city. From 1894 to 1897 he was a member of the local Board of Education.

Politically, Dodds member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1908 he was in the eleventh electoral district of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Archibald B. Darragh on March 4, 1909. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1913 two legislative sessions. 1912 Dodds was not nominated by his party for re-election.
