Wobbenbüll

Wobbenbüll (Danish: Vobbenbøl, Frisian: Wååbel ) is a municipality in the district of North Friesland Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Wobbenbüll is located about 5 km north- west of Husum on the North Sea coast and the border between Marsch ( alluvial ) and Geest.

East of Wobbenbüll extend the federal highway 5 and the railway line from Husum to Niebüll. In Wobbenbüll the causeway linking the island to the mainland north beach begins.

History

Maybe Wobbenbüll was founded by inhabitants of Uthlande who had lost their home in the Second Marcellus of 1362.

The town was first mentioned in 1438. The place name may mean settlement of the Wobbe.

1906/ 07 was carried out between Wobbenbüll and the island north beach at first exclusively to protect the coastline due to the construction of a low dam. 1933/35 was the " Nordstrander dam " expanded flood- free and provided with a road. The necessary amounts to massive sand gathered from an approximately 27-hectare piece Geest near the village. This formative view of soil sampling site was designated " Wobbenbüller Shaft".

Since 1988 the eastern part of the shaft with its rare plants conservation area. The western part of the mine was released in 1949 by the municipality Wobbenbüll for construction.

1933 was the resulting Wobbenbüller shaft as a film set. There where some scenes of the first film adaptation of the novel " The Ghost Rider " by Theodor Storm were filmed.

Municipal council

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the SPD had since the municipal election 2008, five seats and the voter community WGW four. In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the SPD received 57.9 percent and 42.1 percent WGW with a voter turnout of 70.5 percent. The distribution of seats remained unchanged.

Mayor

Since 2008 Reinhold Schaer (SPD ) mayor. For the 2013-2018 parliamentary term, he was re-elected.

Economy
