Fiumefreddo di Sicilia is a municipality in the northeast of the province of Catania in Sicily with 9658 inhabitants ( as at 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Fiumefreddo di Sicilia is located 38 km north of Catania.
Borders the following municipalities: Calatabiano, Mascali and Piedimonte.
History
The center was founded around the year 1400, in 1600 it was passed into the possession of the noble family Cruyllas.
Attractions
The place has a strictly geometric. Worth seeing are:
- Pfarkkirche in the city center
- Palazzo Diana from the 18th century
- Palazzo Palmierie from the 18th century
- Castello degli Schiavi ( slave castle 15th century ), known as the location of "The Godfather"
