Castel di Iudica

Castel di Iudica is a city in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, with 4736 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Castel di Judica is located 33 km west of Catania. The inhabitants of Castel di Judica live mainly from agriculture and livestock.

The neighboring municipalities are Agira (EN), Catenanuova (EN), Centuripe (EN), Paternò and Ramacca.

History

The castle was built by the Arabs and later conquered by Roger II. It is now considered a castle on the slopes of the mountain of the same name, and at one time important trade route. In 1933, the inhabitants of the city successfully offered to take the name of the mountain and the castle where she lies.
