Mazda Bongo

The Mazda Bongo is a van / minibus / chassis, which is produced by the Japanese car manufacturer Mazda since 1966. As Mazda Bongo Browny the longer and larger versions of the Bongo were called. Between 1978 and 2001 there was the Bongo Browny and also known as Mazda E - series in Europe. The 2nd generation of Bongo was also built by the former partner Kia Motors as a Kia Besta and Ford marketed it in 1983 as the Ford Econovan. Since the third generation of the Bongo is also marketed by Nissan as Nissan Vanette Largo. Since the fourth generation by Mitsubishi Motors as the Mitsubishi Delica. Mazda E 2000

Bongo SK82

As of June 1999, production of the Bongo SK. It is a strongly revised SE platform. Despite partial resemblance to its predecessor other body parts are installed, especially in order to improve crash safety. The flatbed model bares the abbreviation SKF. The 1.8-liter petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engine has been improved in performance and exhaust emissions. Initially, driver airbag and anti-lock brakes were optional or standard equipment depending on the model. Optional automatic transmission and all-wheel drive were available once again.

  • In December 2003, the diesel engines were converted to common- rail injection and the performance of the 1.8-liter petrol engine was again increased to now have a maximum output of 95 hp. Driver airbag and ABS have since been included in all models.
  • In August 2007, diesel particulate filters have been introduced to meet the environmental standards. Also in the truck models, electric windows and central locking were now standard series.
  • In August 2010, were revised. The 1.8 -liter gasoline engine, which in the Mazda MX -5 is used in Europe, replacing the previous 1.8 - liter engine. A large center armrest and better materials improved the comfort. The loading height decreased to 45 mm, electric door mirrors and front passenger airbags are also standard equipment since then.

Mazda Bongo Browny SD / SR / Mazda E-Series 1983-2001

Browny SR

In June 1983, the model Mazda Bongo Browny was presented. These were a longer, wider and higher version of Bongo SE. The Bongo Browny was exported from 1984 to Europe as Mazda E 1800, E 2000 and E 2200, depending on the size of engine.
