Neuwittenbek

Neuwittenbek (Danish: Ny Vittenbæk, in Low German: Niewittenbek ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein. Altwittenbek, Driving Horst, Levensau and Warleberg Landwehr lie in the municipality. The place name means New White creek.

Geography and transport

Neuwittenbek is located just northwest of Kiel on the Kiel Canal. To the northeast the federal highway 76 runs from Kiel to Eckernförde.

1923, the railway line Neuwittenbek keel was opened Schusterkrug. Although the Neuwittenbeker station on the railway line opened in 1881 from Kiel -Flensburg railway operational reasons is still staffed, keeping since 1987, runs regularly between passenger trains no longer there. The motorcycle track sport rider Stephan Katt ( " Catman " ) (born 15 September 1979) grew up in Neuwittenbek and lives there.
