Osterby

Osterby (Danish Østerby ) is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

Osterby lies about 6 km west of Eckernförde in the Hüttener mountains. Southeast runs the federal highway 203 from Rendsburg to Eckernförde and north of State Road 76 from Eckernförde to Schleswig.

History

Osterby was first mentioned on October 7, 1528 under the name Osterbuj documented. The place was a settlement Jutland (Danish: for by village, settlement ) on the eastern edge of a large forest between the Eider and Schlei. The forests and swamps between the Eider and Schlei formed in the Middle Ages a natural border between Danes and Saxons. By 1550, the Jutes mixed with the advancing from the south of Saxony. In the past 25 years it has grown through several development areas and serves primarily as a popular residential area for commuters to nearby Eckernförde.

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the local elections in 2013 five seats, the SPD and the voter community KWG have three.

The wave bar in the coat of arms depicts the stream Osterbek and Suebian knot refers to the skull found near the site of a bog body (see man of Osterby ).

Economy

The community has several agricultural full-time farms, a merchant, and several craft shops.
