Koreelah-Nationalpark

The Koreelah National Park is a national park in the far northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales, 631 km north of Sydney and 40 km south-east of Warwick ( Queensland) in the northern part of the McPherson Range. To the north it borders on the Main Range National Park in Queensland ..

West of White Swamp Road, about 10 km north of Old Koreelah ( at Mount Lindesay Highway) there is a campsite. He has a dry toilet and some barbecue areas, but the grass there is very high because the cattle were driven from there since about 1999.

The main attraction of the park is a gorge of Koreelah Creek, a tributary of the Clarence River, directly south-west of the campsite. At the end of this gorge there is a deep water hole, which is surrounded by 4 m high rock walls. From up there you can jump into the water hole. Further downstream there are more waterfalls, but the main part of the gorge can be reached from the north only with climbing ropes. If dry, the water is infested with algae.

In addition, you can also find places with Gondwana Rainforest in the park. There live several endangered species of birds and wallabies.
