Kosciuszko-Nationalpark

The Kosciuszko National Park (English Kosciuszko National Park ) is a 6734.92 km ² large nature reserve in the Australian state of New South Wales, about 350 km southwest of the city of Sydney.

The National Park is located in the mountain range of the Snowy Mountains and surrounds its namesake, Mount Kosciuszko, which is the highest peak of the continent with 2228 m. Due to the large amount can be found in the park an unusual for Australia Alpine climate with appropriate vegetation and the landscape shows traces of an earlier glaciation. Still in the park Mount Townsend, the second highest mountain at 2209 m is located on the mainland of the Australian continent.

The national park was founded in June 1944 and is the largest in New South Wales.
