Thirlmere-Lakes-Nationalpark

The Thirlmere Lakes National Park (English Thirlmere Lakes National Park ) is a 6.3 km ² small national park in New South Wales, Australia, about 100 km south-west of Sydney. It is located in the area of the Blue Mountains, which was declared in 2000 a World Heritage Site, and includes location immediately east of the Nattai National Park.

The park was established in 1972 to preserve one of the last pristine lake systems in the Sydney metropolitan area. Along a mostly dry river course are the five reed -fringed lakes over a length of about five kilometers. They offer a variety of water birds, but also freshwater sponges, mussels and jellyfish a home. In the Eukalyptenwäldern around the lakes numerous Wombats live.

To receive the valuable ecosystem, camping is not allowed.
