New-England-Nationalpark

The New England National Park is located in the region of Northern Tableland of New England (Australia) in the state of New South Wales of Australia. It is located about 500 km north of Sydney, between Armidale and Dorrigo.

General

The first protection efforts began around 1935, which is why the area is one of the oldest national parks in Australia. He was initially approximately 17,000 acres in size and was increased over time to 72 241 hectares.

The impressive landscape is marked by a great escarpment, which allows great panoramic views.

Nature

In reserve different landscape types occur: subtropical rain forests in higher elevations and deciduous forests, but also heath and wetlands. A total of over 1,000 plant species have been recorded so far.

On rare mammals, the Stuart - Breitfußbeutelmaus, bandicoots and various bats were, inter alia, koalas, giant quoll, found at remarkable birds wedge-tailed eagle, white -crested Cockatoo, Lyrebird, Rußeule, Crimson Rosella, King Parrot and honey eaters.
