1899 Italian Football Championship

The Italian Football Championship in 1899 was the second Italian football championship, which by the Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio (FIGC ) was held.

Organization

From 27 March to 9 April 1899, the qualifying matches for the finals took place. Since the SG Sampierdarenese retired, the rules taught by the Davis Cup in tennis. The defending Genoa thereby entered only in the finale to in their own stadium.

The final was on the take place on April 16, 1899 in front of 150 spectators Campo Sportivo di Ponte Carrega in Genoa, in this case it was the re- edition of the finals of the year 1898. Again won the Genoa against Internazionale Torino, this time 3-1, and won the Coppa Duca degli Abruzzi, which was named after the Duke of Abruzzi.

In addition to the four teams who took part at the first Italian Championship in 1898, now a second club from Genoa, the SG Sampierdarenese was added. However, this association did not occur in the playoff game against the reigning champions Genoa, but was awarded by default.
