1956–57 AHL season
The season 1956/57, was the 21st regular season of the American Hockey League ( AHL ). During the regular season, six teams played 64 games each. The four best teams in the AHL then played in a play-off round to the Calder Cup.

Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Pittsburgh Hornets were relocated to Rochester, New York and played from then on under the name of Rochester Americans

Calder Cup Playoffs

For the play-offs, the four best teams in the American Hockey League qualified. In semi-finals and finals played this from the Calder Cup winner. Both the semi-finals and the finals were held in the best- of-seven mode.
