Aci Sant'Antonio
Aci Sant'Antonio is a city in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, with 17 474 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).
Location and data
Aci Sant'Antonio, 20 km north of Catania from the sea on the south-eastern slope of Mount Etna and about 4 km, the inhabitants work mainly in agriculture and in quarries.
The neighboring municipalities are Aci Bonaccorsi Aci Catena, Acireale, Valverde, Viagrande and Zafferana Etnea.
History
The town was founded in the Middle Ages. In eruptions of Mount Etna, in the years 1169, 1329, 1408, and 1693 large parts of the town were destroyed. The town was rebuilt respectively.
