Altefähr

Altefaehr is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office West Rügen based in the community Samtens.

Geography and transport

The community Altefaehr is located on the opposite bank of Stralsund Strelasund, which separates the island of Rügen from the mainland Vorpommern.

History

Altefaehr has probably served as a ferry port since the year 1200.
