Grenderich

Grenderich is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Zell an (Mosel).

Geography

The municipality is located on a Grenderich abdachenden the Mosel Mosel- Hunsrück district of northern Riedel at an altitude of 420 m, around 5 kilometers from the River Moselle. It is connected there with the road L 98 after Senheim or L 199 through the Valley of the Mills by Merl (cell ). Parallel to the L 98 the place can also be hiked on a partial section of the Keltenweg near- Moselle.

To Grenderich includes the residential places Vogthof and Zirweshof.

History

1238 Grenderich is first mentioned. The place had up to 1780 Bailiwick Senheim in " Dreiherrischen territory." As in Beltheimer court to the Electorate of Trier, Sponheim and Brown Horn ( Winneburg and Metternich later) divided the country rule. Beginning in 1794, Grenderich under French rule and was from 1798 to 1814 to the canton cell. 1815, the region, and thus the place Grenderich was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna.

Since 1946 Grenderich is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. By the 8th Administrative Simplification Act of July 18, 1970 with effect from November 7, 1970 the church was Grenderich after the dissolution of the municipality Senheim assigned to the municipality of Zell (Mosel ).

Simultaneously with the construction of Pydna ( rocket base ) in the 1980s was built on the boundary at Grenderich a PATRIOT air defense missile site. This position was abandoned in 1990 and the unit moved to the Middle East for use in the Iraq war.

The nearest train station is Bullay on the Mosel route, about eleven kilometers west located.
