Ellenz-Poltersdorf

Ellenz -Polterdorf is a wine village in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. The municipality belongs to the municipality of Cochem. Ellenz -Polterdorf is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Ellenz -Polterdorf is on a loop in the center of Cochem Mosel Krampen. The local situation is on a slip face, which in a southeasterly direction to the Moselle flat out drops.

Geographical location

The county town of Cochem, which is at the same time the seat of the municipal administration, is located downstream approximately 7 km. After Mayen is about 30 km, Koblenz is located in 50 km distance. Directly opposite on the other side of the Moselle is the small town of Beilstein, a ferry connects the two towns.

Expansion of the municipal district

While the district Ellenz -Polterdorf extends characterized by their large forest areas on both sides of the Moselle, the two spatially separated lying districts Ellenz and Polterdorf are left hand of the Moselle. There is also the majority of the vineyards and thus vineyards belonging to the municipality. The best known of this is the Ellenzer Goldbäumchen.

History

Ellenz is first mentioned in 1100 in a freight directory of the pin carding. The first mention Poltersdorfs dates back to 1178th Until the early 14th century, the Reichsvogtei Ellenz -Polterdorf had stock. The following rule Kurtriers went out in 1794 with the occupation by the French revolutionary army until 1814 belonged to Ellenz Mairie Eller in the canton of Cochem. 1815 Ellenz -Polterdorf was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna and belonged until 1945 to the Rhine province. Since 1946, the local church is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded.

Parish council

The local council in Ellenz -Polterdorf consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Economy and infrastructure

About 500 m downstream of the local situation of Ellenz located on the barrage Fankel the central control room of RWE Power AG. From here all hydropower plants along the Moselle and Saar are controlled.
