Groß Kordshagen

Great Kordshagen is a municipality west of Stralsund in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. The community is managed by the Office Niepars based in the community Niepars.

Geography and transport

Great Kordshagen lies on the southern bank of the Grabow, a part of the Barth Bodden. About eight kilometers west of the municipality is the town of Barth and about 18 kilometers east of the city of Stralsund.

The municipality consists of the villages Arbshagen, United Kordshagen and Flemendorf.

Through all districts the L 21 running from Barth to Stralsund.

In the district Flemendorf there is a port on the Grabow.

History

After belonging to the Principality of Rügen Great Kordshagen fell in 1326 to the Duchy of Pomerania.

After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the area belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania.

The congregation was then until 1952 part of the district Pommern -Barth and belonged then to 1994 to the circle Stralsund in the district of Rostock. Since 1990 Great Kordshagen belongs to the state of Mecklenburg -Vorpommern.

Economy

The municipality is large Kordshagen economically dominated mainly from tourism (camping sites, apartments, restaurant, café ) and agriculture.
