Großbartloff

Großbartloff is a municipality in the Thuringian district of calibration field. It belongs to the administrative community Westerwald- Obereichsfeld.

Geographical location

Großbartloff is located in the south of the ridge Obereichsfeld Westerwald in Eichsfeld -Hainich- Werra valley about 15 kilometers south of Heiligenstadt. Surrounded the local situation of numerous mountains of the Upper Muschelkalk Eichsfelder plate as the Eichberg in the southwest, the Schimberg ( 457.1 m ) in the northwest, the Klusberg ( 443.2 m ) in the north and the Holy Mountain ( 435.0 m) in the southeast. Further east, in the direction of Mulhouse is the Thuringian Basin. The village is Bathed by the Lutter, a northern tributary of Frieda.

History

Großbartloff was first documented in 1306. In case of fire, the village was almost completely destroyed in 1640. 1740 the present church was built. For centuries, the village belonged to the administrative area of Electoral Mainz. 1802 to 1807 the place became Prussian and then came to the Kingdom of Westphalia (Canton Großbartloff ). From 1815 he was part of the Prussian province of Saxony.

On April 7 and 9, 1945 Großbartloff received U.S. artillery bombardment. The church received three direct hits, numerous residential buildings were destroyed. Four civilians were killed, including two children. On 9 April, the site was occupied without a fight.

From July 1945 to 1949 the town belonged to the Soviet occupation zone SBZ and since 1949 part of the GDR. From 1961 until the turn and reunion 1989/1990 Großbartloff was affected by the closure of the nearby German border. Since 1990, the city is part of the re-established state of Thuringia. A flood on 23 July 2004 caused severe damage to property.

End of the 19th century Großbartloff received a railway breakpoint in the context of the construction of the canon path. It was decommissioned in the 1990s.

Sports

In Großbartloff there in Soccer Junior range from the 2011/12 season a gaming community with the JSG Büttstedt / Küllstedt under the name JSG Westerwald. The first team to coach Wolfgang Döring (formerly FC Rot -Weiß Erfurt ) plays in the 1st district league Season 2, is very successful there and missed in the 2010/11 season only just the climb. There is also a badminton and table tennis club.

Attractions

Other attractions include the Great Bartl offs located on the eastern edge of the village and about 10 meters high waterfall Lutter.
