Menzendorf

Menzendorf is a municipality in the western part of the North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Schönberger country located in the town of Schönberg.

Geography

The community Menzendorf between Schoenberg and Greve mills, large-scale seen between Lübeck and Wismar in a hilly area bounded by the rivers Maurine, Radegast and Stepenitz.

To Menzendorf include the districts Lübsee, Lübseerhagen and Rottensdorf.

History

1341 the village was first mentioned in documents, the district Rottensdorf 1359th Menzendorf that which belonged to the possession of Bülow, was created as Rundling. The oldest part of the village is the current district Lübsee, a Slavic settlement ( first mentioned in 1158 ).

1823 took over Christian Ferdinand Siemens management of domain Menzendorf. His sons Werner von Siemens and the native-born Carl von Siemens founded later the Siemens group.

  • Early Gothic church of brick and with a pointed spire and retracted rectangular choir and tower of 1901 in the district Lübsee within sight of the federal highway 20 just east of the junction Schoenberg. The Church is therefore illuminated at night. It has a frieze organ.

Economy and infrastructure

In Menzendorf some craft enterprises are located next to agricultural holdings, among other things, a boat building company, a cider mill, a horticultural and a dry mode.

Transport links

The Federal Highway 20 (Lübeck - Wismar ) leads past Menzendorf, the next driveway ( Schönberg) is five kilometers away. There are good road links to Schoenberg, Dassow and Greve mills. On the outskirts of Menzendorf the railway line Lübeck- bath small runs. The nearest railway station is located in the neighboring municipality greaves ( route Lübeck - Wismar ).
