Oberbillig
Oberbillig is a municipality in the Trier -Saar castle in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Konz.

Location
Oberbillig, an old vineyard, but also fishermen and boatmen village on the Mosel, located six kilometers west of Konz on the right bank of the Mosel in Mosel- Km 206 opposite the mouth of the sour. Through the town lead the federal highway 419 and the Upper Moselle route Trier- Perl -Metz Deutsche Bahn, which here has a breakpoint.
History
Historically finds the history of Upper Billigs closely linked to the water on the opposite side of the Moselle Cheap. Only through the border demarcation at the Congress of Vienna in 1815 Oberbillig Prussia was attributed, by then it was formed, although separated by the Mosel, with a low water community. The parish remained jointly before 1871 and only became independent entity.
On July 18, 1946 Oberbillig was assigned to the Saarland together with 80 other municipalities in the counties registers and Saar castle, which no longer was under the Allied Control Council at the time. However, this association did not last long, for on June 8, 1947, Upper Cheap and 60 more previously outsourced communities to the newly formed in 1946, the state of Rhineland -Palatinate.
However, the history of Upper cheap enough much further into the past. The church as " Billich " in the year was first occupied 965 AD The origin is regarded as celtic, naming the other hand, points to the Roman legacy. Such finds are to be found today in the so-called Pieter house, which presents Stone Age evidence, Roman, and geological finds from various excavations and other interesting aspects of Upper Billigs history.

The local council in Oberbillig consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 a proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Six wineries farming in Upper Cheap predominantly white wine varietals. To Oberbillig include the vineyards Romans mountain and pastoral gardens.

- Fisherman's Festival of the fishing club in June
- St. Bartholomew wine fair on the 4th weekend in August
- DGM Rally: The DGM Rally is a motorcycle tour of the upper cheap on the Mosel. It is organized by the Association DGM Rally eV together with many helpers they organize since 2004 in a two- year cycle, a motorcycle ride, with proceeds benefiting the DGM.

- Moselle promenade with stunning view of the river on the other river bank and to the sour mouth
- Fishing Museum in the house of fishing on the banks of the Moselle. There are as yet only in relatively few restaurants on the Moselle, the delicious Moselle fish, a dish of fried roach or similar fishing, best enjoyed with a " Porz " Viez.

- Street: top Cheap is connected to the B 419.
- Railroad: breakpoint Oberbillig on the railway line Trier- Perl.
- Ferry: The northernmost direct connection on the German - Luxembourg Moselle section considers the local church Oberbillig owned, free-moving car and passenger ferry " Sancta Maria " between the villages of Upper cheap and the Luxembourg Wasserbillig upright. She has been in operation since 1 May 1966.
