Lorscheid

Lorscheid ( Moselle Franconian: Löhschd [lo ː ʃd ] ) is a municipality in the Trier -Saar castle in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Ruwer, which has its administrative headquarters in Waldrach. The high forest community was several times in the competition Our village is beautiful excellent.

Geographical location

Lorscheid is located at about 420 meters above sea level on a south-facing slope at the edge of Osburger forest near the Moselle river. On the southern district border flows of Lorscheider stream which receives the flowing water on the northern Gemarkungsgrenze Welgerbach below the castle head, and then Feller Bach is called. To place the Scho Jewellers mill belongs on Lorscheider Bach.

History

Rubble remains of Roman settlements are located southeast and north of Lorscheid, Celtic burial mounds south-west and east of the village.

In 1211, the village was first mentioned in the list of goods Abbey of St. Maximin in Trier. He belonged to the end of the 18th century the parish of fur and to the Official St. Maximin. In the Visitation Report of the Archbishopric of Trier in 1569 for the first time a chapel was called, which St. Was dedicated to Gertrude. The hl. Gertrud is also the patron saint of today's late Romanesque parish church from the year 1804.

Lorscheid comprises the former districts of corrugated Scheid ( in the southeast ) and Lorscheid ( center of the village near the church ). On Matt there used another settlement, which is but like the plague victim. On a map of the archbishopric of Trier from 1645, the place is listed as Meyert.

End of the 18th century came to Lorscheid Mairie and later mayor Farschweiler, 1934 Official Waldrach in Ruwer and 1969 to the municipality Ruwer.

Parish council

The local council in Lorscheid consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 a proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The twelve seats in the municipal council are divided into two groups of voters. In the previous election in 2004, a majority vote was held.

Mayor

Mayor is Ludwig Welter, who was elected at the municipal election on 7 June 2009 with a majority of 63.6 percent of the vote. His predecessor was Karl -Heinz Knobloch.

Culture

Residents associations are VfB Lorscheid 05, the Mixed Choir, the home and the tourist office, the volunteer fire department, the Reservist and the youth group Lorscheid.

In the village is the private cultural theater Petipa instead for concerts, theater, lectures, ballet performances and art exhibitions. In addition, classes are taught in dance, singing and ballet.

Economy and infrastructure

Public facilities include a kindergarten, the youth center, the village hall, barbecue hut, an athletic field and the pond water treatment plants on Lorscheider Bach. In Lorscheid are a retirement home, several small and medium-sized businesses, cottages south and west of the town and the youth welfare institution Woodpecker mill.

Tourism

Marked trails lead through extensive forests and hidden valleys. In the village there is the restaurant to host garden. In June 2013, the Roman - Celtic trail was opened in Farschweiler and Lorscheid.
