Gutweiler

Gutweiler on the Ruwer is a municipality in the Trier -Saar castle in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Ruwer, which has its administrative headquarters in Waldrach. The place is located in the Moselle Franconian language area.

History

The oldest confirmed documentary evidence about the place Gutweiler dates back to 1098, when Emperor Henry IV Trier Archbishop Engelbert its rights to 57 different villages, including Gudewilre confirmed. In an earlier document from the year 980, in which a place is called Wilre, the reference is not sufficiently secured to Gutweiler.

The church of the village is the Saints Cosmas and Damian, the patron saints of physicians and pharmacists consecrated.
