History

The Austrian Hockey Association was founded in January 1912 and has immediate inclusion in the World Hockey Association IIHF requested. This took place on 18 March of the same year. As in intermediate February Austria took part in the comprehensive only three participants as European non-member, this was canceled after the fact.

Due to the First World War, the next international matches were played only in the 1920s. In the meantime, the change from the previously played bandy the Canadian Hockey was carried out in Austria. This was followed by successful years in which you were at home and 1931 European Champion 1927.

After the Second World War, the team Austria continued for the time being continue their successes, culminating in the 1947 World Cup with a bronze medal. Then the team fell into a deep and therefore from the A group of national teams.

Only with the 1992 B Cup the Austrians managed to rise again in the class of A- Nations. Annually since the 2005 World Championships at home carried a descent from and ascent into the highest class.

The player with the most inserts are Gerhard Unterluggauer with 229, 228 and Martin Ulrich with Dieter Kalt with 197 games. Record holder among the goalkeepers is Claus Dalpiaz with 146 games (all as of April 2013).

The points list is led by Rudolf king with 183 points in 158 games, before Thomas Cijan ( 131/132 ) and Herbert Pock ( 128/127 ). With 105 goals and 78 assists King leads the two scores to clear. The highest-ranked active player is Thomas Cook with 77 points in 120 games (all as of October 2012).

Most penalty minutes

Most penalty minutes, Herbert Hohenberger collected (346), behind the brothers Philippe come with 298 and Andre Lakos, and Oliver Setzinger, both with each 231 penalty minutes (all as of May 2012).
