Dnipropetrovsk Oblast

The Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (also Dnepropetrovsk Oblast, Ukrainian Дніпропетровська область / Dnipropetrowska oblast, Russian Днепропетровская область / Dnepropetrowskaja oblast ) is one of 25 administrative units ( oblast ) of Ukraine, to the east of the country. It has approximately 3.29 million inhabitants (2014).

Economy

The oblast is one of the industrial regions of Ukraine. About 17 % of the total Ukrainian industrial production are here generates, which corresponds to one-eighth of GDP. Also, here Braun-/Steinkohle is degraded, there are deposits of rare minerals such as Anduoit, kaolin, rutile and zirconium.

Heavy industry

The good economic development of heavy industry in the region is based on the strong natural resources and transport links. Rich and easily accessible deposits of iron ore, especially in the Krywbass region, and the relative proximity to the Donbass region, with its rich coal deposits and the existing waterways provided for the easy access to the CIS countries and the economic prosperity. Engineering

The engineering accounts for about six percent of industrial production. Mid-1940s here was built a gigantic industrial complex. Today, the oblast is the leader in mechanical engineering from the Ukraine, she was most recently involved with a little more than ten percent of the total Ukrainian production. The machinery in the region has mainly focused on the production of electrical equipment, agricultural vehicles and railway engineering. Electricity industry

The electricity industry in the region is mainly based on the rich deposits of lignite / coal. The thermal power plants " Pridniprowskaja " and " Kriworischskaja " together generate 4,700 megawatts of electricity. Chemical Industry

In 5 years, industrial production has almost tripled from 37329.9 million UAH in 2003 to 101,979.9 million UAH in 2007.

In the oblast there are mechanical engineering, food industry, chemical industry and Stahlverhüttung.

In addition, Dnipropetrovsk was a closed city, as it was one of the centers of the Soviet space and defense industries and for Ukraine to this day.

Foreign Investment

History

The area was regularly contested between the Russian Empire, Austria - Hungary and the Ottoman empire in history. (see also History of the Ukraine). On 27 February 1932, the Oblast was finally recreated in the course of administrative reform, which in turn created from the 1923 ( Okrug Katerinoslaw ) or 1926 ( Okrug Dnipropetrovsk ) okrugs was formed. By 1923, the area of ​​today Oblast was in existence since 1802 Gouvernement Jekaterinoslaw. The limits of 1932 created Oblast, however, were not comparable to those of today.

Geography

The area is located in the East European Plain and has many steppes, the Dnepr passes through the Oblast from the northwest directly towards Dnepropetrovsk and then in a southerly direction in the Zaporizhia Oblast. The oblast has a continental climate and good soils, making it agriculturally very productive. The oblast is bordered to the north by the Poltava Oblast, on the northeast by the Oblast Kharkiv, on the east by the Donetsk Oblast, on the southeast by the Zaporizhia Oblast, to the southwest by the Kherson Oblast, in the west on a shorter section of the Oblast Mykolaiv and in northwest on the Kirovohrad Oblast.
