Löbnitz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Löbnitz is a municipality in the west of the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. It is located south of Barth and belonged until January 1, 2005 to the Official Barth country, since it is part of the Office Barth.

Geography and transport

Löbnitz is located about eight kilometers south of Barth. Through the village runs the B 105 ( Rostock- Stralsund ). In the village itself, the road branches off to Barth and the Darß. Through the village and the river flows Barthe.

History

The district Redebas originated from a Slavic settlement, located directly on the Barthe, served as a river crossing and protection. Redebas Löbnitz in 1319 and is Saatel in 1242, first mentioned in a deed of sale in 1374. Buchenhorst and child Hagen emerged in the wake of German colonization in the 13th century.

After belonging to the Principality of Rügen Löbnitz fell in 1326 to the Duchy of Pomerania.

After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the area belonged to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania.

The community was until 1952 part of the district Pommern -Barth and belonged then to 1994 to the circle Ribnitz Damgarten in the district of Rostock.

Others

According to legend, the name " Löbnitz " due to the knight Godescalcus de Lobenitze. The poet Ernst Moritz Arndt lived for several years in Löbnitz.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 29 April 1994 by the Home Office and registered under No. 31 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
