Norddorf

Northville on Amrum ( Frisian: Noorsaarep, Danish: Nordtorp ) is next to fog and Wittdün on Amrum one of three municipalities on the North Sea island Amrum.

Geography

History

North Village is the oldest Amrumer villages along with Süddorf. Founded in 1890 by Friedrich Bodelschwinghstraße in Northern village and north of Northville Seehospize. On this occasion, the town has developed into a seaside health resort. 1902 North Village was first served by the Amrumer Island Railway, which continues to the northwest led to Kniep port on Kniepsand. The Kniep port could be run by larger ships and served mainly the waterways by Hoernum on Sylt.

1925 North village was from the community Amrum that the entire island without Wittdün included at this time, spun and the rural community of northern village formed. In the same year burned down large parts of the village, so that most newer homes without thatched characterize the village image. The Seehospize today no longer exist or be used for other purposes.

In 1938 the last time the pier was moved because of the progressive silting up north. With the addition of the Sands Kniep on the dunes of the island that port had to be abandoned. In 1939, the island railway was shut down and replaced by buses.

The community of Northville formed together with the communities fog and Wittdün until 31 December 2006, the Office Amrum. Since then, North village belongs to the Official Fohr Amrum.

On 27 April 2009 the church was given the additional name on Amrum and has since been Northville on Amrum.

Policy

Of the nine seats in the municipal council has the voter community Norddorfer citizens block (NBB ) since the local elections in 2013 and the five CDU four seats.

Attractions

Tourist interesting starting points of this place are the south to Duck Decoy with their historic fishing grounds, a natural history center with a focus on environmental protection, which is operated by Öömrang Ferian, and the sandy beach on the west located Kniepsand.

From north of the village Amrumer Odde can be achieved (northern tip of the island ). There is a large bird sanctuary. Wading birds and other animals of the Wadden Sea can be observed here well. Guided tours of the club Jordsand are held regularly.

On the dune A Siatler is a viewing platform. Further southwest are found in the vicinity of the transition to Kniepsand the lighthouse north village with Art Nouveau elements. The lighthouse was built in 1906 and serves as a control and cross light for the fairway Vortrapptief. The lighthouse is referred to as Amrum Quermarkenfeuer.

Economy and Transport

With 474 237 49 485 overnight stays by guests ( without overnight stay in the North Sea Clinic ) in 2012, the community is one of the ten most important tourist places in Schleswig -Holstein. The community possessed 2005 on 2,162 guest beds.

The largest accommodation facility in North Village is the Nordseeklinik, a mother and child health clinic AOK that up to 159 adults and their children aged 3 to 14 years old receive for preventive and rehabilitation treatments.

Northern village is situated at the northern end of the road L 215, which leads to Wittdün. Regular bus services connect the Wyk Steamship Company.
