Pommern, Rhineland-Palatinate

Pomeranian at the Mosel is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Treis- carding. Pomerania is a nationally recognized tourist.

History

The place is mentioned as Ponieries villa for the first time in 936 in a document of Otto I.. The Abbey Himmerod was from the year 1264 the largest landowners in the town. Beginning in 1794, Pomerania under French rule the monastery Himmerod 1802 was dissolved. 1815 it to the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. Since 1946 he is part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

The local council in Pomerania consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. In the previous election in 2004 the council members were elected by majority vote

Coat of arms

The municipality operates since 1981 a coat of arms. The shield is " divided diagonally left, front silver in a diagonally right red rafter beams, accompanied by red shingles, back in red two intertwined gold rings hanging diagonally left over each other ."

The rafter beams and shingles are borrowed from the arms of the " Hans von Pumere ", year 1368, according to a tapestry in the castle Eltz. The two rings are the sign of the Abbey Himmerod that had the largest holding in place. The first vineyard was already conferred in 1234 by Arnold von Braun horn. Even in the 18th century, the abbey the full building obligation for the Church, as they moved all the tithes, and erected in 1786 at an early neo-classical building. The present parsonage, the former " Himmeroder yard", is regarded as the "most beautiful vicarage in the diocese of Trier ".
