Schömerich

Schömerich is a municipality in the Trier -Saar castle in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Kell am See.

Geography

Schömerich located south of Trier about ten kilometers north-east of the Saar castle and eight kilometers west of the municipality seat Kell am See. Federal highway 268 (Trier -Saarbrücken ) runs about two kilometers west of the town.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1574 under the name Schombrig. In the 18th century it was called Schoenberg and belonged to the late 18th century to the Official Saar castle in the Electorate of Trier.
