Tyler County (West Virginia)

The Tyler County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. In the census in 2010, the County had 9,208 inhabitants and a population density of 13.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Middlebourne.

Geography

The County is located in northern West Virginia, bordered to the northwest of Ohio, where the limit by the Ohio River is formed, and has an area of 675 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:

History

The Tyler County was formed on December 6, 1814 from parts of Ohio County. It was named after John Tyler senior (1747-1813), the 15th Governor of Virginia ( 1808-1811 ) and father of John Tyler, the tenth President of the United States.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Tyler County 9,208 people in 3,789 households. The population density was 13.8 inhabitants per square kilometer.

The racial the population was composed of 99.0 percent white, 0.2 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.1 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.5 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity were 0.5 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
