Beauquesne

Beauquesne ( Picard: Bieutchène ) is a northern French village with 1348 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality belongs to the canton Doullens and is part of the Communauté de communes du Doullennais.

Geography

The extended community is situated around ten kilometers south-southwest of Doullens to the department by Corbie road D23. The name derives from the local name of the oak from ( "Fine Oak ").

History

The solid castle, the ruins of which were sold in the French Revolution on demolition, was built around 1182.

  • The neo-Romanesque church of Saint -Jean -Baptiste, a brick building from the 20th century, with a Gothic tower of the 13th century, in the list of Monuments historiques registered in 1926 (base Mérimée PA00116090 ).
