Saint-Sauflieu

Saint- Sauflieu ( Picard: Saint- Souillu ) is a northern French village with 941 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens, is part of the Communauté d' agglomà Amiens Métropole, in the canton Boves.

Geography

The community is located between the rivers Selle Noye and at the edge of the plateau in the south of Amiens on the Territory road D1001 ( former Route nationale 1), in the west of here opens the Territory road D61, 13.5 kilometers south of Amiens; their municipal area stretches west to beyond the Autoroute A16 addition. Through the village runs a portion of the known as Chaussée Brunehaut road system that linked to Amiens Beauvais.

History

In Saint- Sauflieu Gallo- Roman settlements were found in aerial reconnaissance tracks. The community name has been associated with the label Saxonum locus. In the early modern era, the village was the largest in the south of Amiens. Inn the mid-18th century, the peddler was operated with iron goods on a large scale. After the French Revolution, Saint- Sauflieu was briefly the seat of a canton. With 1600 inhabitants, the highest level was reached in 1836. The residents worked widely in the textile industry of Amiens. In the north, the municipality a brick was built.
