Pissy

Pissy is a commune of 287 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. It belongs to the Local Government Association Communauté d' agglomà Amiens Métropole.

Geography

Pissy is in the west of the Picardy region, 12 kilometers southwest of Amiens, surrounded by the municipalities Revelles, Fluy, Seux, Bovelles and Guignemicourt, between the European Route 44 in the south and the D221 in the north.

History

Pissy was divided before the French Revolution (1789-1799) in two fiefs. One belonged to the monastery of Saint -Lucien at Beauvais, which sold the fief in the 16th century. The other belonged to the Saisseval family, through marriage was also the first fief during the 17th century and the Pissy castle was built.

Attractions

The castle was built by Pissy 1681 instead of the original manor. The stones for the construction of the castle were obtained from a quarry on today's Court of Honor. In 1989 the castle was partly recorded in the supplementary list of Monuments historiques ( historical monument ). The ornamental garden of the castle was also created in the late 17th century and translated work in the 19th century.

The church of Saint -Fuscien -et -Saint- Gentien dates from the 16th century, it is dedicated to two local saints who have worked in Sains -en- Amiénois. In the church there is a stone statue, the Christian de Pity, the suffering Jesus Christ represents. The statue also dates from the 16th century. It was classified in 1916 as a monument historique.

Economy

The municipal area controlled designation of origin (AOC ) for lamb ( Pres-sales de la baie de Somme) apply. The lambs grazing on salt marshes at the Somme Bay.
