Lahoussoye

Lahoussoye ( Picard: Houssoée ) is a northern French village with 419 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the canton of Corbie and is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the D929 road department from Amiens to Bapaume (whose new route bypassing north ) 4.5 km north of Corbie on the high ground between the Ancre and the Hallue.

History

The church is mentioned in the 13th century. During the Battle of the Hallue in December 1870 Lahoussoye was the headquarters of General Louis Faidherbe. During the First World War, the British troops entertained an airfield here.
