Cachy

Cachy ( Picard: Cachin ) is a northern French village with 260 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Amiens, is part of the Communauté de communes du Val de Somme, in the canton Boves.

Geography

Cachy is on the edge of the landscape Santerre at the department D168 road, about seven kilometers east of Boves and seven kilometers south of Corbie. The municipality extends to the north on the Autoroute A29 and the road department D1029 ( former Route nationale 29) addition. On the D1029 is the ruins of the Castle of Bois- l'Abbé.

History

In Cachy traces of a Gallo- Roman villa were found. The estate belonged to the abbey of Corbie.

During the First World War, the church was held in the tank battles and lay a military airfield, was ravaged. She received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
